What is a CMP?
A Consent Management Platform is the consent manager: the tool that organizes user preferences about their cookies and tracking data in a transparent way.
Like a granary (hórreo) raised above the ground, Esbilla CMP isolates data from unwanted trackers. Ethical governance for your digital harvest.

This document is the answer to the lack of a technical and self-hosted solution for managing user data.

Many of you might wonder what a programmer—trained at Seresco and in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Computer Science—is doing in this web privacy "mess." Life has led me through many trades, always with an entrepreneurial spirit, but Open Source has always been a special part, a "stone soup": that recipe where everyone contributes what they have so that, in the end, we all eat.
For those not familiar with the term, a CMP (Consent Management Platform) is the tool that manages cookies. But I prefer to explain it as we do in Asturias: when you "esbillar," you separate the ear of corn from the leaves. A CMP does the same with your browsing data: it separates the cookies necessary for the web to function from those used for statistics or marketing, leaving only those you truly accept.
It is 2026. Current CMP pricing models are, frankly, a robbery. They charge exorbitant amounts for a solution that, technically, is not an insurmountable challenge. With the power and ease that AI gives us today, there is no excuse: it is the perfect time for a reasonable alternative. We started with many resources made by AI but with the intention that, as a community, we humanize this common project.
Andecha and Sestaferia: Having Esbilla CMP be open source means people can help improve it collectively. It's the spirit of sestaferia or working in andecha: if we fix the road together, we all travel better.
Your Granary, Your Rules: Data sovereignty means that instead of storing in a multinational's giant warehouse, you store and manage your information on your own machine. Like that hórreo that protects the grain from moisture and pests, Esbilla lets you set up the system in Docker to isolate your data from unwanted trackers. We also use the classic Open Source formula "Give away the recipe, open a restaurant" by offering SaaS services so anyone without technical knowledge can use our Cookie manager or by offering our services to set up the system on your infrastructure.
This is not just software; it's returning clean air and transparency to our digital harvest.
